Osterville Village is one of the seven villages of the Town of Barnstable. Located on the south side of Cape Cod, the Village faces beautiful Nantucket Sound. Beaches and bays make Osterville an ideal place to relax or enjoy your time kayaking and paddle boarding and just spend the day.

During the exciting summer months, many events take place throughout the village, and the Osterville Business & Professional Association also sponsors fun community events throughout the year. Esteemed professional services, a year round market, even studios and salons for health and beauty – these types of attractive businesses (and others) complete this peaceful, yet vibrant seaside community and bring in visitors and friends by the thousands.

Osterville has an impressive and classically American history - dating back to the 1600

s - too! The land was originally known as Cotachessett. As Oystering gained popularity, the land became known as Oysterville. It’s believed that the name Osterville was the result of a misspelling of the original name.

Today, oysters continue to be a prominent theme throughout the village. It remains a beloved pastime and vital trade, and several businesses pay homage to the original name.
